MS Office 2007 on Windows 10 Pro build 2004

Since my desktop PC is dead now I have installed today Microsoft Office 2007 onto my new NUC i5-8259U machine. So far so good until it triggered and started to pull down all 12k updates that were released thought the last 13 years of this software existence. After installing Service Pack 3 it tried to apply even more updates… exceptionally crazy. All was fine until I have seen following error message, that pierced me to the core: Read more →

LEGO case for Raspberry Pi

COVID-19 outside, autumn is behind the corner and dark comes really fast after the recent time change… That’s why today I would love to present something happy and something completely different that was poking my head since very few weeks. I wanted to pimp my Raspberry Pis with custom cases. All 3 models I possess have the original cases, that are fine, but the look&feel could be improved. I wish to mount an SSD next to the Pi along with much bigger fan. Read more →

Long Live Tajfun

It’s never that bad, it couldn’t get worse. After 2789 days of continuous service my biggest and only desktop PC has died. Unfortunately, it was not a quick and clean death. Nor anything even close to what I have planned. It took the whole week of hiccup and bouncing, yet finally it stopped turning-on on 2020-10-17. Now I have no machine I could use for gaming… working, reading and blogging are the only things left for me via my other mobile equipment! Read more →

MacBook Pro Late 2011 new charger

That’s right, it’s late 2020 and my kids inherited and are very happy to still use this little gem - MacBook Pro from 2011. This equipment has it’s own history as I did upgraded it several times during its lifetime by installing Windows 10 on it, placing more RAM, fixing keyboard issues and even inserting 2nd SSD (instead of the optical DVD drive). But as times fly, there are materials that didn’t age nicely. Read more →

Intel NUC i5-8259U

Today I added a marvelous device into my collection - Intel NUC 8th series with i5-8259U CPU (model number: BOXNUC8i5BEH2) from a local reseller. Of course it wouldn’t be me, if I haven’t had problems with it starting from the day 0, even if this equipment is brand new. Please stay with me and I will explain, what went wrong and how I approached and finally fixed it. First and most importantly - let me explain or better just tell, what were the reasons to purchase it. Read more →

Fractal-Design Case LED fix

TL;DR My new case Vector RS Dark Tempered Glass (FD-C-VER1A-02) had broken LED top-panel, which was replaced by my local reseller. I am 100% positive about customer care, attitude and responsiveness of the Fractal-Design Support, as well as ProLine.pl in Wrocław. Many thanks for their marvelous work. Long version My last desktop PC comes from February 2013. It’s still very usable with Intel i7-3770 and 32GB of RAM onboard. I did upgraded meanwhile (several times? Read more →

Restoration of Twierdza ekhem original Pentium 4 with 3.2GHz clock and only 32-bits

Chapter 1 - History On 12th September in my wardrobe I found another PC from the past. It was my first custom build founded totally by money I earned/received on studies as scholarship for academic performance. It did replaced my old Intel Celeron 400 MHz and at that time was a huge leap forward. Most of my future academic projects were then done using it as a backend. Spec: Intel Pentium 4 3. Read more →

macOS privileges on USB drive

Ever since I bought a MacMini 2014 I was dreaming of using it as NAS in my home network. It could potentially serve as well as GitHub.com or GitLab.com build agent or maybe as a TeamCity server, but basic things first. What I needed at the beginning was more space! And I am not talking just about a bit of it, what I had in mind was a huge room to store my personal images, MP3s, yet eBooks and audioBooks collections or art assets purchased on HumbleBundle. Restoration of Erathia ekhem of T61

Once again I though it would be a good idea and I have looked into my darkest and forgotten closet. What I found there was a nice piece of tech - 13’’ Lenovo ThinkPad T61. I already got lots of good memories associated with this equipment - as this is the first notebook that I started my freelancing with. Yes, it is a pre-2010 machine and it’s even older than multiple times mentioned here my old 13’’ MacBook Pro 2011. Read more →

Install .NET Core on Raspberry Pi

.NET Core 3.1 for ARM32 Installing .NET Core on Raspberry Pi 4 is a very straightforward process these days. There are plenty descriptions in the wild, so please welcome my own guide on this subject too. Login into Raspberry Pi and upgrade all current modules to latest. sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade Install some dependencies, that .NET Core relies on (as described here). Potentially all of them are already on your system, but let’s be sure. Read more →
